The King of Swords illustrated as sitting on his throne, holding a sword upright with his right hand and his left hand resting on his lap. He wears a blue tunic and a purple cape. The Throne is decorated with butterflies, crescent moons, and an angel. In the background an almost clear sky and motionless trees are discernible.
The Sword that the King holds with his right hand symbolizes his ability to perceive a situation as a whole. His blue tunic represents the knowledge and wisdom, while his authority, power, and ambition are symbolized by his purple cape. The decorations on the throne, together account for the balance between conscious (mind), subconscious (emotions) and super-conscious (spirit or inspiration). The background represents a clarity of mind rather than a turbulent flow of ideas.
Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity.
